I've put together this site of Google Trends that are of interest to content writers in the automotive, finance, jobs, real estate and travel industries. It includes terms that have spiked within the last 7 days on Google as well as their estimated growth in searches during that time period.
It only shows results for search terms that receive a significant amount of traffic, and enforces minimum thresholds for inclusion in the tool.
"Breakout" terms are those terms that have experienced a change in growth greater than 5000%.
Click on the term for more information including a graph with the search volume indicating interest over time for your terms, plotted on a scale from 0 to 100; the totals are indicated next to bars by the search terms.
Keep in mind that these lists are dynamically generated and at times you will see terms that appear out of place. With the amount of search volume that Google has, there is going to be a margin of error so not every term is accurately categorized as there is little (if any) human review.
Potential Empty Page Problem
If you arrive at these pages and there is no data then "You have reached your quota limit." If this happens to you, sign out of Google (if you're signed in) and clear your cache. You can always try another machine or try again later. I've been using Google Trends for years and have never had this happen to me when looking at daily trends. However, it did happen to me when I created this trends Blogger site - I was looking at 50+ trends screens in a 2-hour period.
